On September 1, 2025, traditional Medicare plus supplemental Medigap insurance coverage began for the first Connecticut state employee retiree permitted to transfer by the Comptroller’s Office.

The new transfer program is restricted to those who can prove that they cannot get appropriate care through the privatized Aetna Medicare Advantage plan we have. Here is a link to the Medicare Advantage Exemption Form if you think you are eligible.

The new program will help some retirees, but it falls far short of what we hope to achieve through upcoming negotiations between the state and SEBAC: an affordable choice for all state employee retirees between privatized Medicare Advantage and traditional public Medicare.
